The CD project 900 Miles is the result of a year long cooperation between two young artists, flutist Natalia Jarząbek (Poland) and pianist Pieter-Jan Verhoyen (Belgium). The CD includes works of chamber music and solo music for flute and piano that have historical connections with Poland and Flanders, the one exception being Charles-Marie Widor’s Suite Op. 34 for flute and piano, included for sentimental value as it’s the first piece Natalia and Pieter-Jan performed together publicly in March 2016. The title 900 Miles not only represents the distance between Natalia and Pieter-Jan’s birthplaces (Kraków and Bruges), but also how the choice of music travels through America and Europe, and explores the repertoire throughout the Romantic period, all the way to the modern day.
